Checked, and numerous minor additions and modifications 16th January
2013
I thought I would include one or two of the historical family Genealogies
I have prepared. In this instance I have been fortunate enough to obtain
sufficient information from public sources to set out this famous
French/Canadian family from whom the Audcent family descend and have supplemented
with additional known family information. All assistance to clarify
missing or confused information will be appreciated. I must also thank
a number of correspondants who send me information they have researched from
original registers. Thanks to Jacques, Leo, Luc, and Will among others.
My special thanks go to Yves who has checked from his own sources the
information given and provided numerous corrections and additions
(2006-2008). Some of the data on the children who died in infancy
in Quebec in the 17th and 18th centuries are taken from the PRDH database
(University of Montreal's Historical Demography Research Program)
www.genealogie.umontreal.ca (Yves Drolet).

GENEALOGY
of the
family
d'AILLEBOUT
The family d'Aillebout are one of the most important of the French
Canadian families, giving to New France, a governor, and numerous soldiers,
sailors and traders. Many of the members of this family, including
my own direct forebears have already had their biographies in the
"Dictionary of Canadian Biography" and this has been a wonderful bonus,
assisting considerably in providing me with data on my forebears. Where
I have been able to extend the known information, is in the line d'Aillebout
d'Argenteuil for which I possess original family documents and letters which
have been handed down the family and which link into the historical
record as prepared by others.

'Louis' D'AILLBOUT D'ARGENTEUIL (it is here that the
Audcent family documents are of value), b. 23/8/1690 Montreal, captaine port
of Grenada, sugar cane planter and refinery owner at first in the island
of Martinique and then Grenada, m. 1725 St Pierre, Martinique, Marie Louise
DE GEOFROY DE VESINOS DE LA GRANA D'ALLANDOME dtr of M. de Geofroy de Vesinos
de la Grana d'Allandome and Mademoiselle Des Vergers de Sanois who themselves
had married in 1705. We know little of Louis, in 1749 when his grandmother's
(Louise Denys) estate was distributed he is described as "absent of this
Colony", no mention is made of his marriage and children. In 1755 he was
in litigation regarding the siting of a public road through his estate in
Grenade during the period 1753-55. He was still living in 1780 for
it would appear that he and his brothers, Sieur d'Ailleboust de Cuisy
(Alexandre), and Chevalier Dailleboust (Jean) agreed to sell the fief and
seigneurie of d'Ailleboust by document dated 27/9/1780 Montreal, Notaire
Simone Sanguinet, to Pierre Louis Panet, and Louis sent his authority signed
on the 24/9/1780 at L'Assomption agreeing to the sale, which took place on
the 5/2/1781 Quebec, before Simon Sanguinet, when the family formally
sold the Seigneurie 'dailleboust' to Pierre Louis Panet, for the sum
of 21,000 livres. Later on the 24/5/1793 before notaire Pierre Remi
Gagnier of Quebec, Pierre Louis Panet sold the fief and Seigneurie d'Argenteuil
to Patrick Murray, Major in the 60th Regiment. Of his marriage he had
issue of three children - it is by this marriage that the Audcent and Pinot
de Moira families of England are related to Josephine Tascher de la Pagerie,
Empress of the French.

Marie Anne Felicite D'AILLEBOUT
D'ARGENTEUIL, b 18/10/1728 Martinique, m. 22/5/1751 Grenada, (probably parish
Riviere St. Jean or St Jacques), Jean Baptiste
MAURY DE
LAPEYROUSE, Officer in the Regiment d'Eu, and living at Choc in the parish
of Notre Dame de la Conception at the time of marriage (1780) of his daughter
Louise, at which time his wife lived at Port of Spain on the island
of Trinidad in the home of their son. Jean Baptiste was born the son
of Andre de Maury de Lapeyrouse (1678-1738) and his wife Elizabeth (alias
Isabeau) DE DORTET (I have a naval document which states 'DORLET') whose
parents are unknown, and the grandson of Pierre de Maury and his wife Fleurance
de Sabatier-Fabry, the latter daughter of Jean and his wife Jeanne de Laffont.
He is also known to have had the following known brothers & sisters,
Joseph Gabriel, Andre, Elizabeth Fleurance, Louis who died without issue
in France, Salomon, Maurys, and Jean-Pierre-Louis. Joseph Gabriel was the
father of four children, 3 sons, Laurent, Mayor of St Hippolyte, Gard
(1805) who himself had issue, Gabriel-Joseph-Marie-Antoine,
Jean-Louis-Edouard, and a daughter Magdeleine-Victoire-Alexandrine who in
1806 was unmarried, but appears to have married a Marie Joseph Girard.
Marie Anne Felicite arranged for her will to be prepared by her
son in conjunction with Don Louis at Trinidad, on the 25th November 1781,
but we have no details of the contents. Of their marriage, there was
just the issue of a son and daughter:
-
Louis MAURY DE LAPEYROUSE, Comte de Lapeyrouse, a sugar plantation
owner at Port of Spain on the island of Trinidad, Godfather of Jean
Baptiste Louis Andre Valerie DE VILESTIVAUD born 1786. In 1789, he
advised his sister Louise Simonne that he has poor health because of a wasting
ailment with little hope of recovery, in September 1792 he travelled to France,
with his daughter Nanci leaving his wife and two sons at home, and intended
to return with two sisters-in-law back to Trinidad in the spring of 1793.
The letters we have are confused, nowhere has it been made clear as
to when Louis died, but one letter alone, dated 17th October using the republican
calendar, but with no year mentioned indicates that he died of ill health
having arrived home in Trinidad, following a short visit to France sometime
between 1793 and 1801 inclusive. There is no correspondence dated later
than the letter of the 8th October 1792 from Louis to his sister which
is surprising. He was betrothed as early as Aug 1785 when his future wife
was only 16, and m. 19/10/1785, (presumed at Port of Spain),
Trinidad, Mlle DE CASSIERES, who was born in Guadeloupe and returned to study
(probably Clermont) in France accompanied by her mother prior to her marriage.
Her father's family originated from the Auvergne, and her mother
was a demoiselle Cornet de la Guadeloupe with fine alliances (it's her
mother 's family that appears to have had links with Clermont, France). Of
his marriage he had issue, for details see

male heir
of his father, Godfather to Hippolyte Henri Pinot de Moira his nephew, and
who corresponded regularly around 1846-1850. Grand Senechal of the
Order of the Temple in 1841. He is known to have spoken to the members
of that order at a special meeting held on the 15th January 1841,
(an original copy of the text is in my possession
- dba) at the temple, then situated in Place-Royale (now Place
des Vosges), Paris. Directeur de l'enregistrement des domaines et de
Timbre at Laon, dept Aisne, he was appointed Chevalier de la Legion d'Honneur
on the 8th July 1863, and having retired from this post on the 1/1/1870 he
died on the 13/7/1872, we know that at this time he was living at Merlieux,
Aisne. We know nothing as to whether he married, or had
children.
FOOTNOTE: The arms of the de Vilestivaud family, as set
out in the registered and approved Pinot de Moira genealogy are: "d'azur
3 gerbes d'or". Hippolyte Alexis appears to have married and seems
to have had a son Charles - but this is not yet clarified, but it is known
that Hippolyte Alexis, or his line, was the last of his family, for he confirmed
this fact and requested my GGrandfather H.H. Pinot de Moira, his nephew
and Godson, to let him have all the papers held by him relating to the
family de Vilestivaud. These papers included the official documents relating
to their common forebear d'Aillebout d'Argenteuil including certificates
of birth and marriage, together with the correspondence of his mother Louise
Simonne Maury de Lapeyrouse to her cousin the Empress Josephine of France,
accordingly we no longer have this information which is only referred to
in letters. I presume research at the Temple in Paris might clear up
some matters - DBA.
